Unes 200 noies alliberades de Boko Haram estan embarassades

Barcelonaal diari nigerià 'Daily Times' 214 noies que han quedat embarassades durant el seu captiveri, segons ha explicat el director executiu del Fons de Població de Nacions Unides (UNFPA), Babatunde Osotimehin, al diari nigerià 'Vanguard'.

El director d'UNFPA, una agència de l'ONU dedicada a la salut materna i als parts, també ha explicat als mitjans locals que en l’últim any l’organització ha assistit més de 16.000 parts al nord de Nigèria, actualment en conflicte. "

Algunes de les noies rescatades han relatat aquest dilluns a diversos mitjans com els membres de Boko Haram van matar homes i nens davant de les seves famílies abans de prendre com a ostatges dones i nenes. "Cada dia presenciàvem la mort d'alguna de nosaltres i esperàvem el nostre torn", ha explicat a Reuters Asabe Umaru, una noia de 24 anys amb dos fills que en les dues últimes setmanes pràcticament no va menjar res.

Amnistia Internacional estima que des de principis del 2014 Boko Haram ha capturat més de 2.000 dones i nenes, que han estat convertides en esclaves sexuals o en combatents.

THE latest rescue of additional 234 women and children by the Nigerian Army from the Sambisa Forest in Borno State, indicated, yesterday, that a sizeable number of the rescued girls were visibly pregnant, even as unofficial reports put the latest number of pregnant girls in one of the camps in Borno as at last Saturday at 214.

Giving this indication in Lagos, Executive Director, UNFPA, Prof. Babatunde Osotimehin, also disclosed that in the last one year, the organization had taken deliveries of over 16,000 pregnancies in the troubled North East part of the country.

Osotimehin, while giving update of the response to the rehabilitation of the rescued women and children, said the organization, in anticipation of the magnitude of the problem on hand, had put in place a formidable team in collaboration with the Federal and state governments, to first restore the dignity of the girls, who, he said, are facing severe psychosocial trauma.
